Nitiwul Explains Why HIV, Hepatitis B Applicants Are Disqualified From Security Recruitment

Former Defence Minister and Chairman of Parliament's Committee on Assurances, Dominic Nitiwul, says persons living with HIV and Hepatitis B are not eligible for recruitment into Ghana's security services under existing recruitment protocols.
His comments follow a disclosure by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, that 1,300 applicants tested positive during medical examinations conducted as part of the security services recruitment process.
Speaking during the Committee's sitting, Mr. Nitiwul explained that applicants who test positive for certain medical conditions, particularly those seeking to join the military, are disqualified and informed of the outcome.
