Customs House Agents Association Inaugurated to Improve Cargo Clearance Transparency

The Customs House Agents Association of Ghana (CHAAG) has been inaugurated with a mandate to strengthen professionalism, transparency and accountability in Ghana's customs brokerage sector.
Speaking at the inauguration in Accra, Vice President Alhaji Ibrahim Mojo urged businesses to engage only registered customs brokers to ensure proper accountability and avoid challenges during the cargo clearance process.
He noted that with the increasing use of artificial intelligence in customs operations, licensed agents must continuously upgrade their skills through training to remain effective.
Held under the theme, “Advancing Professional Customs Brokerage and Trade Facilitation,” the inauguration marks a new effort to improve standards within the industry.
CHAAG, which has registered nearly 50 companies, says it will roll out training programmes to equip members with the knowledge and skills needed to comply with customs procedures and facilitate efficient trade.
