Dhaka’s polluted rivers threaten health and livelihoods in Bangladesh

For centuries, rivers surrounding Bangladesh's capital were its lifelines. But the waterways are now choking with industrial waste, sewage, and rubbish as Dhaka has grown to become one of the world's fastest-growing megacities. Millions of dollars have been spent on restoration projects, but pollution is threatening public health, the environment, and the economy.
