“WE WON’T TOLERATE THIS”: Foreign Minister Faces Criticism Over Missed Appearance

Parliament's Committee on Assurances has criticised the Minister for Foreign Affairs for failing to appear before the committee to account for assurances made on the floor of Parliament.

The committee says the Minister failed to honour invitations extended on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, and did not acknowledge communications requesting his appearance.

Speaking during the committee's sitting, Chairman of the Committee on Assurances and MP for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, said Parliament would not tolerate attempts by ministers to evade accountability.

The Ranking Member of the committee and MP for Ejura Sekyedumase, Muhammad Braimah Bawah, also stressed that ministers must respect the legislative arm of government by honouring invitations to appear before parliamentary committees.
