The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has attributed the delay in operationalising the 120-bed Children's Specialist Hospital at Weija to the contractor's failure to officially hand over the facility.
Addressing Parliament, the Minister said the Ministry of Health is ready to begin operations once the outstanding issues are resolved. He explained that critical works, including the installation of some medical equipment, remain incomplete, preventing the formal handover of the hospital.
According to the Minister, the hospital already has a full complement of staff and will begin serving patients as soon as the contractor completes the remaining works and the facility is officially transferred to the Ministry.
