TRIBUNALS BILL 2026: Minority Warns Against Return of Tribunal Courts

The Minority in Parliament has opposed the reintroduction of the tribunal courts system, arguing that it could be misused for political purposes.

The caucus says Ghana's Fourth Republic already has an established judicial structure, including district, circuit, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court levels, and believes these institutions should instead be strengthened.

Contributing to the debate on the Tribunals Bill, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Jinapor, warned that bringing back the tribunal system could revive difficult memories from Ghana's past.

The debate continues as lawmakers consider the proposed legislation and its implications for Ghana's justice system.
