Former Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare, has attributed the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) heavy defeat in the 2024 general elections to inadequate engagement with the party's grassroots members.
Speaking during the University of Ghana's “Time With a Politician” programme, where she reflected on her tenure as Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare said the party did not do enough to connect with its grassroots support base.
She noted that the NPP also failed to strategically involve individuals who were committed to the party's interests while it was in government, contributing to the scale of its electoral setback.
According to her, the magnitude of the defeat highlighted the need for stronger grassroots mobilisation, engagement and internal party organisation.
