Roadside Mechanics in Trouble as Ayawaso Central Announces Enforcement Exercise

The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly has secured a temporary yard to impound vehicles as it prepares to intensify a crackdown on roadside mechanics and vulcanizers operating on public roads.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One News, Municipal Chief Executive Rudolf Collingwoode-Williams said the absence of a holding facility had previously delayed enforcement efforts, despite repeated warnings to operators occupying roads and walkways.
He explained that some roadside mechanics and vulcanizers extend their activities beyond approved spaces, obstructing traffic flow and creating safety risks for pedestrians, including schoolchildren.
The MCE urged operators to comply with planning regulations, warning that the Assembly will soon begin a sustained enforcement exercise to restore order and improve road safety within the municipality.
