The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has raised concerns over the distribution of relief items to flood victims by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
According to him, NADMO provided baked beans and instant noodles to some flood victims in Nima and Accra New Town, instead of using available flood relief resources to procure more essential food items and support affected businesses.
The Minority Leader questioned the effectiveness of the flood relief response and called for greater accountability in the management and distribution of funds meant to assist victims of the disaster.
His comments come after recent floods in parts of Accra caused deaths, displacement, and significant damage to homes and businesses.
