The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has questioned the government's decision to hold a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving shortly after the devastating June 29 floods, which claimed lives and destroyed property in parts of the country.

Speaking on the matter, Afenyo-Markin criticised the timing of the event, arguing that more attention should have been directed toward supporting flood victims and addressing the impact of the disaster.

“People have died, and the next day you're in white with a white handkerchief. What do you know that we don't know?” he questioned.

His comments have sparked further debate over the government's response to the floods, relief efforts, and the balance between national reflection and immediate disaster management.
