Breaking: Parliament Suspends Sitting for National Cleaning Exercise

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed that Parliament will suspend sitting on Friday, July 10, 2026, to allow Members of Parliament from flood-affected constituencies to participate in the National General Cleaning Exercise.

The exercise follows government's declaration of Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as National General Cleaning Days in seven flood-impacted regions.

The initiative is aimed at clearing choked drains, waterways, and other flood-prone areas as part of measures to reduce the risk of future flooding.

In a formal communication to Parliament, Speaker Bagbin commended President John Mahama for the initiative and encouraged Members of Parliament to support efforts aimed at improving sanitation and protecting communities.
