Speaking on Eyewitness News, Ernest Amartey Osei, President of GHANET, highlighted Ghana's progress in reducing HIV prevalence and improving treatment outcomes, but stressed that funding gaps and reduced public awareness campaigns could threaten gains made in the fight against HIV/AIDS. He noted that HIV prevalence in Ghana has declined significantly, while emphasizing that people living with HIV can live normal lives when they access treatment and achieve viral suppression. Ernest Amartey Osei also called for renewed public education campaigns, saying reduced visibility of HIV awareness messages could affect prevention efforts. He warned that shortages of testing supplies could make it difficult to identify infections early, especially among pregnant women, increasing the risk of mother-to-child transmission. GHANET is urging government and stakeholders to prioritize HIV prevention, testing, treatment access, and sustainable funding to protect progress made in managing the disease.
