GAPHTO Warns of Disease Risks Amid Accra Floods and Waste Crisis

The National President of the Ghana Association of Public Health Technical Officers (GAPHTO), Joseph Owusu Asante, has called for improved hand hygiene practices amid growing concerns over the country's worsening waste management and flood situation.

The development comes as parts of Accra continue to grapple with accumulated waste and flooding, raising fears of possible outbreaks of diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

Speaking on Channel One Newsfeed, Mr. Owusu Asante urged government and institutions to provide Veronica buckets and other handwashing facilities to encourage proper hygiene and reduce the spread of infectious diseases.

He also advised the public, especially parents and caregivers, to keep children warm and minimise unnecessary exposure to cold weather as part of efforts to prevent infections.
