The Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Mavis Kuukua Bissue, has raised concerns over the growing involvement of foreign nationals in illegal mining activities within her constituency, particularly during nighttime operations.
According to the MP, the activities are causing extensive destruction to a forest reserve and continue to thrive because of what she describes as weak enforcement by security agencies.
She raised the issue in Parliament while serving on the Committee on Assurances during the appearance of the Minister for the Interior, calling for stronger action to protect Ghana's natural resources and clamp down on illegal mining.
