Salmuli Community Clinic has received critical support following a Channel One TV report highlighting severe staffing shortages and inadequate maternal healthcare services at the facility.

Channel One TV's Northern Regional Bureau Chief, Shawana Yussif, reports that the donation was met with excitement by residents, especially pregnant women, who described it as a major relief after enduring challenges in accessing quality maternal care.

The clinic serves about 30,000 people but has only one midwife, prompting renewed calls for more healthcare workers.

Director of the Diocesan Health Service, Yendi Diocese, Gideon Nyaaba Abodoon, says a new maternal and child health block has been completed and plans are underway to train a medical officer. He also appealed for support to equip the facility and expand infrastructure.

He further revealed that only three out of 10 health workers posted to the clinic reported for duty, including just one midwife, and appealed to the Minister for Health to recruit two qualified midwives from the community to help address the staffing crisis.
