Management of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited has ruled out reports of staff layoffs following last week's devastating floods at the Accra Digital Centre, which left several businesses within the technology hub counting significant losses.
Speaking to Citi News, Head of Operations, Frank Ansong, clarified that the reports of job cuts are based on a misunderstanding, stressing that no employee contracts have been terminated. Staff are expected to resume work once cleanup and restoration efforts are completed.
He explained that recovery operations are ongoing but progressing slowly due to extensive damage and debris left behind by the torrential rains.
Mr. Ansong added that most of the equipment damaged by the floods cannot be salvaged, and appealed to development partners, corporate organisations, and benefactors to support the restoration of the facility.
