UCC Flood Crisis: Vice Chancellor Speaks on Urgent Drainage Works

Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced aggressive measures to curb recurring flooding on campus following recent heavy downpours in the Central Region.

The interventions include desilting choked drains, dredging waterways, and rigorous monitoring of land and spatial use in surrounding communities that contribute to flooding on campus.

Vice Chancellor, Professor William Aheto, explained that effective flood management on campus is closely linked to activities in neighbouring communities. He noted that UCC is working with the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to improve drainage systems around the university.

A public campaign has also been launched to discourage irresponsible waste disposal, which continues to worsen flooding in the area.
