Cape Verde's team gets heroes' welcome after return from World Cup

Cape Verde's national football team received a heroes' welcome after returning home from a historic FIFA World Cup campaign.

The Blue Sharks came within minutes of one of the greatest upsets in World Cup history, pushing reigning champions Argentina to a dramatic 3–2 defeat after scoring one of the best goals of the tournament.

Led by veteran goalkeeper Vozinha, the team's fearless football, passionate supporters, and vibrant culture captured the hearts of fans across the world.

Cape Verde made history by becoming the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup knockouts. Even more remarkably, the World Cup debutants remained unbeaten in 90 minutes against every opponent they faced: Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Spain, and Argentina, with their only defeat coming after a late winner in extra time in the Round of 32.
