Optometric Association Demands Urgent Recruitment of Optometrists

The Ghana Optometric Association is calling on the government to urgently prioritise the recruitment of optometrists to strengthen eye care delivery across the country.
According to the Association, many trained professionals remain unemployed despite increasing cases of vision problems, including myopia, particularly among children in urban areas.
They warn that without immediate intervention, the country risks a worsening eye health burden, especially among school-age children, and are urging authorities to integrate optometrists more effectively into the national healthcare system.
