Mexico’s forgotten 1971 Women’s World Cup pioneers finally get their due
Back in 1971, Mexico's women's team beat England at the Azteca in what was a precursor to the Women's World Cup. 80,000 fans watched that game and more than 100,000 turned out for the final. But FIFA didn't start the official Women's World Cup until 1991.
