“Profoundly disappointed”: Fired FTC Commissioner Speaks Out
The Supreme Court just gave President Trump another major victory—ruling he can fire independent federal commissioners without cause. Critics say the decision could dramatically expand presidential power over agencies meant to operate without political interference. The woman at the center of the case is Former FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter. Slaughter says she wasn't surprised by the ruling just “profoundly disappointed” adding “what the president has done and what the Supreme Court has empowered is send a message to every commissioner, majority or minority, that if you don't say how high when he says jump, you're out.”
