Former CEO of the District Road Improvement Programme, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, says Accra's worsening drainage challenges are largely the result of human activity and long-standing governance inefficiencies.
Speaking on The Big Issue with Umaru Sanda Amadu, he highlighted poor enforcement of planning regulations, corruption in permitting processes, and widespread societal indiscipline as key factors contributing to the collapse of major water channels in the capital.
His comments add to the ongoing national debate on the root causes of perennial flooding in Accra and the urgent need for structural reforms in urban planning and enforcement.
