Engineer and analyst Kosi Dedey, speaking on The Big Issue with Umaru Sanda Amadu, has described the recurring flooding in Accra as a leadership failure, driven by weak implementation of long-standing reports and limited political commitment.

He noted that traditional drainage systems alone are no longer sufficient due to Accra's flat terrain and rising sea levels. He urged a shift toward modern water retention systems, including reservoirs and basins, as part of a long-term solution.

Kosi Dedey also stressed that weak enforcement of regulations allows indiscipline to persist, arguing that stronger governance structures would ensure citizens comply with planning laws.

His comments add to growing calls for urgent reforms in urban planning and flood management in Ghana.
