No More Raw Exports: GIISDEC Pushes Bold Shift in Ghana’s Iron Ore Industry | Market Place

The Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC) says its core mandate is to develop and promote Ghana's iron and steel industry, with a renewed focus on exploring iron ore deposits across the country. According to Chief Executive Officer William Okofo Dartey, the institution is committed to ensuring that Ghana moves away from exporting raw iron ore and instead adds value through local processing and industrial development. He emphasized that while partnerships remain essential to achieving this goal, nationalisation alone is not the solution for building a sustainable and competitive steel industry.
