WATCH: Citi FM and Channel One TV have officially launched the Literacy Challenge 2026, an annual nationwide competition aimed at promoting literacy, critical thinking, and academic excellence among pre-secondary school students across Ghana.
The competition is open to students between the ages of 11 and 15 and seeks to inspire a culture of reading, effective writing, and analytical thinking among young learners.
This year's challenge requires participants to write a letter to the Minister for Education, assuming the role of a youth consultant. The essay will examine the advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence in education, while proposing practical solutions to ensure students in rural and underserved communities are not left behind in AI-powered learning.
Speaking at the launch, Head of Programmes Production at Channel One TV, Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, said the initiative has grown over the years with deliberate efforts to increase participation from underserved communities.
