Ghana's inflation rate has increased for the third consecutive month, rising to 5.3 percent in June from 3.7 percent in May, according to the latest data released by the Ghana Statistical Service.
The latest reading suggests a renewed pickup in consumer prices after months of relatively subdued inflation.
Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, indicated that food inflation rose to 3.9 percent in June from 3.3 percent in May, while non-food inflation climbed to 6.3 percent from 4.1 percent over the same period.
He provided a breakdown of the figures, noting that non-food inflation was the main driver of the latest increase.
