Texas to require public school students to read Bible stories | DW News

The US state of Texas, which is home to 1 in 10 schoolchildren in the country, has decided to make reading selected Bible stories part of its public school curriculum. Critics say the policy violates the constitutional separation of church and state and excludes minorities. 'The Day' talks to education experts with opposing views.

The Day speaks to two guests who view the decision very differently: Daniel Buck, Research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former teacher and research professor of education at New York University from 1995-2020 and a historian of education

Chapters: 00:00 Intro 01:21 Biblical literacy or religious bias? 03:56 Does this violate the First Amendment? 07:52 Is Christian nationalism shaping schools? 10:17 Does the reading list reflect today's US?
