President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has called for the urgent transformation of the old Tema industrial park, describing its current state as unacceptable and inconsistent with Ghana's industrial ambitions.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Tema Integrated Industrial Park, the President said the redevelopment project is aimed at driving industrialisation, creating jobs, and restoring the vision of Ghana's founding leaders.
He criticized the deteriorated condition of the existing industrial zone and urged the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure rapid rehabilitation and modernization of the area.
The President also emphasized the need to fix key infrastructure, including the Tema Oil Refinery road, noting that improved roads and facilities are essential for attracting investment and supporting economic growth.
The project is expected to position Tema as a major industrial hub and boost Ghana's long-term economic development strategy.
