A tragic incident has been reported in Kpometey in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, where a man has died after attempting to rescue his family from devastating floods.

According to Assemblyman Mustapha Mohammed, the man successfully saved his wife and children from the flooded residence but later returned to the house to retrieve belongings from his wardrobe. During this second trip, he became trapped in the rising waters and lost his life.

The victim was laid to rest yesterday in accordance with Islamic tradition, as the community mourns the heartbreaking loss.

The floods have also caused significant damage to several commercial establishments, destroying machines and electrical appliances and leaving many businesses in financial distress.

The incident highlights the growing danger of flooding in affected communities and the urgent need for improved drainage and disaster response systems.
