The Minority in Parliament is calling for members of the government's anti-flood taskforce to step aside to allow for a full parliamentary investigation into their role in Monday's devastating floods in Accra and other parts of the country.
The caucus alleges that complacency and possible mismanagement within the taskforce contributed to the scale of the disaster, which resulted in deaths, displacement, and widespread destruction.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, speaking to journalists, said the probe should cover all activities of the taskforce since its establishment, including how funds allocated for flood prevention were used.
He stressed that any individual found to have neglected their duties must be held accountable, insisting that transparency is essential in addressing Ghana's recurring flooding challenges.
