The 2028 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for national unity and urgent intervention following the devastating floods that swept through parts of Accra and surrounding communities.

Speaking after visiting affected areas, Dr. Bawumia described the destruction as heartbreaking, noting that lives were lost while many families have been displaced and left without homes or livelihoods.

He expressed his condolences to bereaved families and encouraged residents to remain hopeful as recovery efforts begin.

Dr. Bawumia also revealed that victims had highlighted urgent needs such as food, clothing, and essential relief items, pledging to support them within his capacity.

He further urged government to act swiftly in providing relief and implementing long-term solutions to Ghana's recurring flooding challenges, warning that urgent and decisive measures are needed to prevent future tragedies.
