WATCH: The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has directed all fuel stations affected by flooding to immediately suspend fuel sales, warning that failure to comply could pose serious safety and environmental risks.

The directive follows Monday's heavy rainfall, which caused widespread flooding and inundated several fuel stations and surrounding communities.

In a public notice, the NPA instructed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), fuel station operators, transporters, and dealers to immediately activate emergency safety protocols at all affected facilities.

The Authority stated that any station where floodwaters have entered forecourts, tank areas, manholes, fill points, or vent pipes must immediately halt fuel dispensing, loading, and offloading operations until the facility has been inspected and declared safe to resume operations.
