Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has called on the government to adequately resource the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to enable it focus on disaster prevention rather than primarily providing relief items after disasters occur.

His comments follow heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding across parts of the Greater Accra Region, resulting in loss of lives, displacement of residents, destruction of property, and a fire outbreak in the Odawna area.

Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily, Dr. Adomako Kissi argued that NADMO's role should shift from reactive relief distribution to proactive disaster prevention and preparedness.

He stressed that stronger investment in early warning systems, drainage management, and planning enforcement is essential to reduce future flood impacts.
