President John Dramani Mahama has directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Greater Accra Region to identify blocked drainage channels obstructing the free flow of water for immediate action.

This directive forms part of broader government efforts to address the impact of severe flooding in Accra and surrounding communities following hours of heavy rainfall.

Authorities are expected to intensify drainage clearance operations as part of ongoing flood mitigation and prevention measures.

The government says these steps are aimed at reducing future flooding incidents and improving urban water management systems.
