Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has strongly opposed the planned utility tariff increment, describing it as a theoretical solution that will not address the power utility's real challenges.

Speaking on The Big Issue with Umaru Sanda Amadu, he compared the tariff increase to "increasing the pressure on a tap and giving someone a basket to fetch the water," arguing that the approach is impractical.

Dubik Mahama maintained that ECG's biggest challenge is metering, insisting that no amount of tariff adjustment can fully recover the company's foreign exchange losses without fixing fundamental operational inefficiencies.
