The Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, has sharply criticized the government's flagship 24-hour economy programme, describing it as ineffective in addressing rising youth unemployment.

He is urging a policy rethink, calling for the revival and stronger implementation of the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative, which he believes remains a more practical and impactful job creation strategy for Ghana's struggling job market.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists, he argued that the 24-hour economy policy appears to have been sidelined and is failing to deliver the expected employment results for young people across the country.

The remarks add fresh fuel to the ongoing political debate over the best approach to tackling unemployment in Ghana.
