GIADEC Signs €300M Deal to Build Aluminium Foil Plant in Ghana

The Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) has signed a €300 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italian engineering giant Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A. to establish an aluminium foil rolling plant and a Centre of Excellence at the Tema Integrated Industrial Park.

The agreement, signed at the residence of the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, marks a significant step in Ghana's efforts to develop an integrated aluminium value chain under its industrial transformation agenda.

Under the deal, Danieli will invest about €300 million in downstream aluminium infrastructure, including a rolling plant with an annual capacity of 40,000 to 45,000 tonnes of aluminium foil products.

The output is expected to serve key sectors such as packaging, pharmaceuticals, food service, and industrial manufacturing, boosting local production and value addition.
