The Accra High Court has sentenced the Managing Editor of The Herald newspaper, Larry Dogbe, to seven days imprisonment for contempt of court.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Isaac Addo after the court found him guilty of disregarding an injunction order restraining publication in an ongoing defamation case involving businessman Kevin Okyere, CEO of Springfield Exploration and Production Limited.
The court held that the journalist's actions amounted to a breach of judicial authority while proceedings in the substantive case were still ongoing.
The decision adds to ongoing discussions about media responsibility, court orders, and the limits of press freedom in legal disputes.
