Traders and residents at the Kaasuankuda site market in Maamobi are resisting a six-week relocation ultimatum issued by the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly.
The traders are expected to move to a new site at Ayikuma near Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District, but they say they strongly oppose the directive.
They accuse the Municipal Chief Executive of acting in bad faith, claiming the relocation notice was issued without proper consultation despite ongoing negotiations.
Reporter Rachel Engmann notes that tensions remain high as both sides struggle to reach an agreement over the future of the market and livelihoods of traders.
