The Government of Ghana has reached an agreement with the Ghana Chamber of Mines to purchase 30 percent of the gold output of all large-scale mining companies operating in the country, effective July 1, 2026.
The agreement was brokered through the Ghana Gold Board under the joint direction of the Ministry of Finance (Ghana) and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (Ghana).
Speaking on the development, GoldBod Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, said the arrangement is expected to strengthen Ghana's gold purchasing framework and support broader efforts to maximise value from the country's mineral resources.
The agreement marks a significant step in the government's strategy to enhance transparency, improve gold market regulation, and increase national benefits from the mining sector.
