The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly says it has put in place an elaborate mechanism to address the persistent flooding challenges affecting the metropolis.

Cape Coast Mayor, George Justice Arthur, explained that several committees established last year following incidents of building collapses are actively working to improve drainage systems and urban safety.

According to the Assembly, recent flooding and structural failures have been linked to outdated drainage systems dating back to the colonial era, as well as weakened buildings constructed with laterite over a century ago.

The Mayor noted that the committees are currently assessing affected areas and implementing measures aimed at identifying long-term solutions to prevent future disasters.
