Former Director-General of the Commission for TVET and Member of Parliament's Education Committee, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has raised concerns over staffing shortages and inadequate funding for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Ghana.

He revealed that only about 1,000 teaching and non-teaching staff have been recruited under the Mahama administration for TVET schools, describing the figure as insufficient to meet the growing demand in the sector.

Dr. Asamoah also highlighted challenges with funding for learning materials and consumables, warning that the situation could undermine the effectiveness of skills training in the country.

He is calling on government to prioritise TVET development through increased investment, improved staffing, and stronger resource allocation to equip students with practical skills for employment.
