Tema Oil Sector Boost: Sentuo Refinery Phase II Begins

President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut the sod for the commencement of Phase II of the Sentuo Oil Refinery project in Tema.

The project follows the refinery's early commissioning in 2024 and represents a major investment of nearly $2 billion, making it Ghana's largest active refinery facility.

According to the President, the expansion will increase the refinery's production capacity from 40,000 to 100,000 barrels per day.

He further stated that once the Tema Oil Refinery becomes fully operational alongside the expanded Sentuo facility, Ghana will be able to meet domestic fuel demand and potentially export refined petroleum products to neighbouring countries.

The project is expected to strengthen Ghana's energy security and boost industrial growth within the petroleum sector.
