DEVELOPING: Angry NPP supporters chant 'Ken Must Go' outside National Executive Committee meeting

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently holding a crucial meeting at Alisa Hotel in Accra to deliberate on key party matters, including internal elections, restructuring efforts, and preparations toward the 2028 general elections.

The meeting was marked by scenes of tension outside the venue as some aggrieved grassroots members stormed the premises, chanting "Ken Must Go" and displaying banners to register their displeasure over developments within the party.

In a separate incident, another group of grassroots supporters reportedly clashed with security personnel and members of the entourage of Alexander Afenyo-Markin as he arrived at the venue for the NEC meeting. The confrontation briefly heightened tensions and attracted the attention of party officials and delegates gathered at the hotel.

The situation was eventually brought under control following the intervention of former NPP General Secretary John Boadu, who appealed for calm and urged party supporters to exercise restraint.

The NEC meeting is currently ongoing behind closed doors.
