The Ghana Maritime Authority (Ghana Maritime Authority) says President John Dramani Mahama is expected to launch the National Seafarers Development Policy in the coming months.

According to Director-General Kamal-Deen Ali, the policy is designed to improve the welfare of Ghanaian seafarers, expand training opportunities, and increase the number of professionals in the maritime sector.

He noted that the initiative is also expected to boost remittances from seafarers working abroad and strengthen maritime education and capacity-building in Ghana.

The policy forms part of broader efforts to position Ghana as a competitive player in the global maritime industry while improving job creation and skills development.
