The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, is calling on Parliament to investigate the One Constituency One Astro Turf initiative introduced under the Akufo-Addo administration, citing alleged lack of transparency in contract awards.
According to the Minister, while some contracts under the programme were awarded by multiple state institutions and handed over to private individuals—who are now benefiting from the projects—others were executed without proper supporting documentation.
Answering questions in Parliament, he further alleged that the programme may have been used as a campaign tool ahead of the 2024 elections, raising concerns about accountability and proper use of public funds.
Parliament is expected to consider further steps as calls for a detailed investigation grow.
