Upper West Minister Vows Continued Fight Against Illegal Mining

The Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, has assured residents of continued efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the region.

He noted that despite the deployment of military and police personnel to affected areas, illegal miners continue to cause significant environmental destruction.

Speaking to Channel One News, the Minister revealed that the Regional Coordinating Council will soon launch a Responsible Mining Initiative aimed at providing a more sustainable and regulated approach to curbing the galamsey menace.

The move forms part of broader efforts to protect water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves from further degradation.
