SEC Orders Registration of Fintech and Online Trading Platforms by August 31

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has directed all market operators, fintech service providers, and operators of online investment and trading platforms to complete their registration and licensing process by August 31, 2026.

The directive is part of efforts to strengthen investor protection and improve regulatory oversight of digital investment activities in Ghana's rapidly growing fintech and online trading space.

According to the SEC, the move will help ensure compliance, reduce fraudulent investment schemes, and create a safer environment for investors engaging in digital financial platforms.

Operators who fail to comply within the deadline are expected to face regulatory sanctions as the Commission intensifies supervision of the sector.
