John Dumelo Urges National Seed Council to Speed Up Seed Approvals

The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has urged the newly inaugurated members of the National Seed Council to expedite the review and approval of seed applications submitted by local seed production and manufacturing companies.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, he emphasized that timely approval of quality seed varieties is critical to boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening food security in Ghana.

He warned that unnecessary delays in the approval process could hinder innovation within the seed industry and negatively impact crop yields, ultimately affecting farmers and national food production.

The Ministry says improving efficiency in seed regulation is key to supporting modern, resilient agriculture systems across the country.
