Parliament Receives Report on Charles Amissah’s Death

The Health Committee of Parliament has formally laid before the House its report on the circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old hit-and-run victim Charles Amissah.

The report follows investigations sanctioned by the Ministry of Health, which found that lapses by medical personnel at the Police Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital, and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital contributed to his death on February 6.

The committee has recommended disciplinary action against those found culpable and proposed far-reaching reforms to strengthen Ghana's emergency healthcare response system.

Following directives from Alban Bagbin, the committee also reviewed the outcomes of various investigations into the case.

With the report now officially before Parliament, lawmakers are expected to debate its findings in the coming days before considering further legislative or administrative action.
